Parituhu is a 1924 Edwardian bungalow renovated to accommodate all your needs, whilst still retaining its original charm. Parituhu was the name of one of the original Maori settlements nearby.
Parituhu is located on the waterfront in Devonport, a marine suburb of Auckland, New Zealand, less than 3 min walk to the local beach or to the main street of Devonport village and with beautiful views of the Waitemata Harbour and the Auckland skyline. It is close to swimming beaches, with swimming possible between December and March.
Devonport village has a number of cafes and restaurants, a large supermarket, 2 pharmacies, a hardware shop and a number of clothing shops. It also has a magnificent new public library, a cinema, and a number of art galleries.
We, Lyndsay Rendall and Helen MacKenzie, are the owner/operators of Parituhu and have lived in Devonport since 1991 and operated the B&B since 1998.
We are very happy to share our home with guests and offer a warm and friendly atmosphere. We both enjoy good films, books, politics, New Zealand wines and food and sports amongst many other things. We have both had a background in NZ healthcare, as nurses and managers.
We have travelled extensively both overseas and throughout New Zealand and because we know our country really well we are happy to help you with local and New Zealand information.
With only 1 guest room available you will receive personalised service from your hosts.
There are a number of ways to reach Parituhu from the airport or train or bus station or by private car.

Parituhu has been listed in the New Zealand since mid 1990’s and the 18th edition ( for 2017) has this to say about us:
“There’s only one double bedroom (with its adjoining bathroom) available in this relaxing and welcoming Edwardian waterfront bungalow.”
A previous review said this:
“This gay-friendly accommodation consists of just one double bedroom with a private bathroom in the owners waterfront bungalow. It’s a homely, relaxing and welcoming place. Our independent authors have visited Parituhu and selected this as one of our recommended hotels and hostels in Auckland “
In another issue “Lonely Planet” had this to say about Parituhu.
“This very good gay and lesbian-friendly guest house provides a perfect base for travellers looking to have the city at their fingertips with a sense of being able to dip their toes in Auckland’s most relaxing neighbourhood. The accommodation consists of one double bedroom with en suite bathroom, and both are in delightful shape. It’s not a flash Edwardian-era villa that you are staying in, but it is a very homely, relaxing and welcoming place.”
